Travelling to Kosova

If you are not a citizen of one of the countries listed above or do not belong to one of the Special Categories, then you need to apply for a Kosovo visa if you wish to visit or transit through the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.

Please note that contestants under the age of 18 must submit a parental consent form signed by both parents in order to enter and leave the country.

Road entry points into Kosovo from neighboring countries

From Albania

Main Border Crossings:

  • Morinë – Connects the city of Kukës with the Prizren region. This is the most frequently used crossing between Kosovo and Albania, especially via the “Ibrahim Rugova” Highway (in Kosovo) and the “Rruga e Kombit” (in Albania).
  • Qafa e Prushit – Located near the Has region, also connects northern Albania with the Prizren area.

 From North Macedonia

Main Border Crossings:

  • Hani i Elezit (Bllaca) – The busiest crossing with North Macedonia. It links Skopje with Prishtina via the Hani i Elezit–Prishtina main road, especially via the “Arbën Xhaferi” Highway (in Kosovo).
  • Glloboçicë – Less used compared to Hani i Elezit but still a functional route in the southeastern part of Kosovo.

From Serbia

Main Border Crossings:

  • Merdare – Links Kosovo (Podujeva/Prishtina) with Serbia (mainly via Kursumlija–Nis). This is the most used crossing from Serbia to Kosovo.
  • Dheu i Bardhë – Located near Gjilan, connecting to Bujanovac on the Serbian side.
  • Jarinje – Situated in the north of Kosovo (near Leposaviq), connecting Kosovo with Raska in Serbia.

From Montenegro

Main Border Crossings:

  • Kulla (Qafa e Kullës) – Connects Peja with Rozaje in Montenegro. This is the most commonly used road between the two countries.
  • Çakorri – Often passable mainly during the summer; in winter, it might require special vehicles or be closed due to weather. It’s less used compared to Kulla.

Practical Tips

  • Documentation: Travelers should carry valid travel documents (passport or ID card, depending on bilateral agreements), as well as vehicle documents if driving.
  • Vehicle Insurance (Green Card): If your vehicle insurance is not valid in Kosovo, you can purchase temporary insurance at the border (for foreign license plates).

About Kosova


The official currency in Kosovo is the Euro (EUR). Credit and debit cards, such as Visa and Mastercard, are widely accepted throughout the country.


The climate in Kosovo is continental, with cold winters and hot summers. In Prishtina, during April, temperatures typically range from 8°C to 18°C. While the weather is often pleasant in the spring, occasional rainfall is also common.

Travelling to EGMO 2025


The official points of arrival and departure are Prishtina International Airport ” Adem Jashari” (PRN) and the Prishtina Central Bus Station. Transport from the arrival points to the contest venue and back to the departure points will be arranged by the local organizing team.


The official arrival date is Friday, April 11, and the departure date is Thursday, April 17.
